Seems to me the on purpose of this patch was to get rid of the you’re offline message in the launcher.

Since the release of the Sims 3 Generations (patch 1.22.9), players no longer need to update their expansions and stuff packs. All updates will now only be applied to the base game. This should make the process easier and prevent 'base-game incompatible' errors. Apply the official The Sims 3 v1.10.6 Patch. Replace the original BIN TS3.EXE & BIN TSLHOST.DLL files with the ones from the File Archive.

This game update includes the following changes:

All core mods need updating. ErrorTrap is in testing.
